Getting Connected

The first step in connecting a new customer to the system is to assess if they're best suited for connection to the Transmission or Distribution System. See below for further information on each option.

Demand Connections

A demand customer is a large commercial or industrial user of power. They can apply to connect to the Transmission System Operator (EirGrid) or the Distribution System Operator (ESB Networks).

We connect generators to the electricity system at transmission level. These are normally larger generators with a capacity of more than 40 megawatts (MW).
