Energisations in Kildare see an extra 70 MW of renewable generation capacity join the grid

Electricity connections in Timahoe, Co Kildare

EirGrid recently energised Timahoe 110 kV Station and Timahoe North Solar Farm in Co Kildare on the transmission system, securing an additional 70 MW of renewable generation onto the national grid.

This represents the successful connection and energisation of another RESS2 project by EirGrid and brings Ireland one step closer to meeting our climate targets.

The project was delivered by the customer Sundew Solar DAC (Bord na Móna and ESB co-development agreement) with significant works completed to connect onto the existing network at ESB Networks.

It shows the importance of collaboration across the industry as we work towards our energy targets.
